The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 4.8-magnitude earthquake 82 km (51 mi) southeast of La Romana at approximately 07:40 (local time) on Friday, March 6. The quake struck at a depth of 78 km (48 mi) and there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected areas over the coming hours and days.  

The Earthquake apparently caused the waters off the coast of Juan Dolio to recede as showing in the video below:
