A daylight fireball was recorded over the sky of Bahia, Brazil at around 13:02 UTC (10:02 LT) on Monday, May 17, 2021. The event was followed by a sonic boom heard by residents of the Macaúbas Brotas region.

The bolide was detected by the GOES-16 weather satellite and 4 cameras of the Clima ao Vivo.

Daytime meteors are rare because they are usually overshadowed by the brightness of the day. To be visible, they need to be really great, the Brazilian Meteor Observation Network said.
